Characterizing the immunophenotypes of lymphopenic community-acquired pneumonia
,

Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is the leading cause of sepsis. Whereas the host response has been analyzed regarding innate immunity and inflammatory response, adaptive immunity remained largely unexplored.

Méndez et al. aimed to contribute to detailed immunoprofiling in CAP by evaluating the host’s adaptive immunity.

The results might contribute to improved severity assessment of CAP and increased precision of prognosis.
