Many interesting talks and engaging discussions covered the topics of sepsis definitions, therapeutic strategies, antibiotics, immunology of sepsis, and critical care of septic patients. The sessions were managed by several experts in these fields.
Not least, the EGIS had a dedicated session on immunology of sepsis entitled “Clinical Translation of Sepsis Immunology: Promise or Reality?”, which was organized by Jesús F Bermejo Martín, Ignacio Rubio, Guillaume Monneret and Joerg C Schefold. The speakers presented their own research and introduced the EGIS group to the conference attendees, creating a rewarding discussion.
They made the key message clear: the EGIS was created to helpt reducing the gap between basic and applied research on immunology of sepsis.
